Tips for Balancing a Boiler Replacement with Business Operation

Do you have a boiler at your business location? If it’s showing signs of age, it may be time to upgrade to a new system before the winter season ends. This is a great way to enjoy a heating boost before warmer temperatures arrive and also ensure that you have a new system in place and working before the next winter season.

Give us a call and get on our calendar for a commercial boiler replacement in Chicago today while we’re in the slow season. Keep reading to learn the signs you need to watch for indicating problems at your business.

Plan Service for During Slow Hours

Ideally, you should schedule a boiler replacement when your business is closed. But if that’s not possible, choose a day when you expect your location to be the least busy. This helps everyone—our team, your employees, and your customers.

Communicate About the Installation

It’s a good idea to let your team and customers know ahead of time about the installation since it will cause a disruption in service. Explain the plan to your team and then post information for customers ahead of time so that they won’t be surprised when the installation happens.

It’s good to offer a timeline that overestimates how long the installation will take. This way, if you get done early—great. If not, and it takes a little longer than expected, you’ve already built in some extra time to the installation estimate.

Choose a Boiler Wisely

Not all boilers are created equal. You want to choose a model that best meets the needs of your business space and our climate. This means balancing size and power to optimize heating for your living space. You may even want to invest in a high efficiency boiler that has elevated operation. Doing so can boost heating ability while also saving you money on monthly gas or electricity costs.

Plan for Temporary Heating Needs

If needed, you can bring in some portable heaters for the day of installation to ensure that your space is still as comfortable as possible. This may mean being strategic and closing off certain areas of your business so you only have to maintain heat in a single space.

Be Ready for Routine Maintenance

Having a new boiler in place may make you feel like regular maintenance isn’t quite as important. Shouldn’t your boiler operate at a high level for a while without extra care steps since it is brand new? While it is true that your boiler may be able to operate just fine without care steps, that doesn’t mean you should skip them.

Things like cleaning filters, monitoring boiler pressure, and bleeding the radiator are important at all stages. In fact, starting off with an excellent care routine and keeping up with it offers your boiler the best chance at a long and efficient lifespan.
